Summit Beer

I'm not a beer drinker. Occasionally, at the lake on a warm afternoon I like a cold beer but usually it just makes me pee too much so I stay away from it.

When I do have a beer I drink Summit Beer. Summit Beer is a micro brew from here in St. Paul. I know you can get it in Wisconsin but I'm not sure about anywhere else. Aside from the great taste of the beer which is hoppy and crisp and certainly not watery like Miller or a Bud, this beer has a higher alcohol content so one of them gets me buzzed and in a happy place in less than half a beer.

I have been drinking Summit Beer since the early 90's when I sold my house to the owner of the Summit Brewery. No, I am not getting paid for this endorsement. In fact even when I sold him the house, which was located on Summit Ave (the reason he wanted the house) I didn't get free beer. I should have since he got the house for a steal due to the fact that my first ex and I were getting a divorce and needed to sell the house quickly.

If you can get Summit in your area give it a try. There are several different varieties as well as seasonal beers. You'll love it.

  1. Have you ever tried Leinenkuegals Berry Weiss (sp?)? It doesn't even taste like beer. It's so good.

I'll have to check the liquor store here in Illinois for the Summit, if they don't have it, I'll have my sister smuggle some over the border the next time she visits from Wisconsin. (Hopefully there will be 1 left for me to try by the time they get here. Maybe I should tell her a case? Lol!)

  2. I have had Leinies Berry Wiess. I grew up on Leinenkugels, we could buy a case with change in the couch. Summit is a much more robust beer. If she can find it I would encourage you to get a case or at least a twelve pack. They also have a heffifisen (sp) and other summer beers which are very good too.

  3. Here in Napa, winemakers drink a lot of beer, a LOT...cleanses the pallet during blending trials!

  5. Looks like I'll have to drive to WI to pick up my own Summit beer. My sister called today and said that the Illinois Tollway sent her 6 tickets for blowing through the tolls without paying when she came out for Thanksgiving. That's really not possible, since they paid cash for the tolls and we have only manned toll booths on the tollways (exits are unmanned, but they didn't use an exit requiring a toll.) They totally got the tickets because they had out of state plates. Now it's guaranteed that she won't be visiting again because her husband is just the kind of a**hole that will forbid her to drive out here again.
